Facebook I. The Cape Coral Irish American Club was founded and incorporated on April 7, 2003. Our purpose is to advance the knowledge of Irish Culture in our community by educating members and interested parties in such areas as Irish history, art,dance, music, poetry, folklore, and others. II. The Irish Harp, the national symbol of the Republic of Ireland, is the emblem of the Cape Coral Irish American Club.III. The Cape Coral Irish American Club is open to anyone interested in learning about Irish culture.IV. The Cape Coral Irish American Club is dedicated to enhancing the cultural diversity of our community by producing an annual Irish Festival. This Festival is made possible because of the support of community churches, businesses, organizations, individuals and festival-goers.V. As a way of "giving back" the Cape Coral Irish American Club sets aside a portion of the proceeds to contribute to local groups and charities. This year our recipients are The Organ Transplants Recipients of Southwest Florida, Inc., the National Veteran's Service Commission sponsered by The Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks of the USA, the Cape Coral Caring Center, the ALS Association Florida Chapter, the Boy Scouts of America Troop #34, Cape Coral Special Populations, Candlelighters of Southwest Florida, Inc., the Knights of Columbus Councils at St. Andrews Church and St. Katherine Drexel Church in Cape Coral, Cape Coral's Hope Hospice and Community Services, Inc., and the Cape Coral Rowing Club.VI. Four years ago the Cape Coral Irish Club established the Richard Mahigan Scholarship Fund in memory of our loyal member, Richard D. Mahigan, to encourage young people to promote Irish culture. The following talented young members of our community who have earned scholoarships are Montana Allen, Delaney O'Shea, Jennifer Guttieri, Catherine Gorman, Claire Gorman, and Shelby Morgan Ernst.VII. The Cape Coral Irish American Club holds general meetings from September to April on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm. The meetings are currently held at the Elk's Lodge at Club Square in Cape Coral.VIII. The Cape Coral Irish American Club participates in community events.IX. The Cape Coral Irish American Club holds picnics, pot-lucks, hoolies, and half-way to St. Patricks Day and St. Patricks Day parties.X. The Cape Coral Irish American Club attends social and sporting events as a group.XI. The Cape Coral Irish American Club holds it's Irish Festival annually on the first weekend in March.XII. The Richard Mahigan Scholarship

Cape Coral Irish American Club

The Richard Mahigan Scholarship is awarded annually to promote our Irish culture and heritage. This scholarship was started by the Mahigan Family to honor Richard who enjoyed all things Irish throughout his life. The Cape Coral Irish American Club continues this scholarship in his name to help advance the study of Irish culture. The amount of the scholarship is $500 and the winner will be chosen after deadline of Monday January 2nd 2012.
